JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno expects creative economy players to be proactive and more motivated to increase product competitiveness and open up business opportunities.

"(With that), it can move the economy and create jobs through innovation, collaboration, and adaptation approaches," he said while attending the 2021 Indonesian Creative Appreciation (AKI) in Palembang, South Sumatra, quoted by Antara, Friday, October 22.

According to Sandiaga, this activity is expected to generate optimism from various sub-sectors such as culinary and fashion.

AKI 2021 is a creative economy development program through capacity building and exhibitions for creative and creative actors in several sub-sectors. Namely culinary, craft, fashion, music, film, animation, applications, and games which will be held in 16 regions in Indonesia.

The Menparekraf stated that Palembang would be the 11th AKI 2021 host city out of 16 cities. The peak event will be held in Jakarta from 9-11 December 2021.

A total of 20 creative creative finalists in the city of Palembang had the opportunity to take part in activities at a training center (booth camp) which presented various mentors with the aim of providing various trainings for capacity building and business development as well as product exhibitions.

Sandiaga assessed that the creative and creative products presented by the finalists in Palembang City already had good quality. However, he said, it is hoped that creative economy actors can be more proactive in taking business opportunities so that their businesses can be promoted.

"The products presented here must be global, from the 20 existing participants they can become the locomotive of the creative economy, especially in Palembang, South Sumatra, to further develop in the future," he said.

According to him, there was a study in the past 80 years that explained the three entrepreneurial orientations, namely innovation, courage, and proactiveness.

Specifically in Palembang, Sandiaga focuses on the third aspect that can be supported through two basics. First, the main values for an entrepreneur are empathy.

“Why did he move because he wanted to help, many of the actors here are not looking for just profit and loss but want to create jobs, want to give a living to the people who are currently struggling. They want to be part of the solution," he said.

The second basis is universalism or in the concept of Indonesian entrepreneurship it is called gotong royong. This is done by going hand in hand to achieve the welfare of the community.
