Good News, Art Workers Enter The Surabaya City Government Economic Movement Scheme

JAKARTA - The Surabaya City Government has prepared a scheme to stimulate the economy of art workers in the City of Heroes, East Java, which has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi said in Surabaya on Sunday that his party together with the Surabaya Culture and Tourism Office (Disbudpar) had designed a scheme to stimulate the economy of art workers in Surabaya.

"We are preparing together with Disbudpar so that ludruk and other arts can appear at the Youth Hall virtually," he said.

For Eri, now is the time for the UMKM economy and art workers in Surabaya to move. Therefore, he hopes that the PPKM assessment of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the City of Surabaya and the agglomeration area can immediately go down to level 2.

"Because now is the time for the economy to move. Apparently, it is still level 3 (Inmendagri) because it is subject to agglomeration, so we are prepared with virtual (art performances)," he said.

The pandemic has been felt by artists in Surabaya, one of which is Ludruk artist Cak Kartolo. In fact, because of the difficult economic conditions, Cak Kartolo had offered his house which he had occupied with his family since 1984 on Jalan Kupang Jaya 1 Surabaya for sale.

Cak Kartolo said that there had been a bid for his house for Rp. 6 billion. However, Cak Kartolo is still waiting for a higher offer.

Deputy Mayor of Surabaya Armuji previously also met Cak Kartolo at his home to motivate him to continue to exist in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic by adapting through digital technology. Even Armuji also had time to provide personal assistance in the form of money worth Rp. 50 million to Cak Kartolo as a form of attention.
