'Blessed' By Bahlil, Erick Thohir, And The Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources, Antam Collaborates With Singaporean And Chinese Companies To Build Smelter In Konawe, North Sulawesi

JAKARTA - The metal mining BUMN, PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTM) alias Antam is trying to expand to build a smelter in the mining concession area in North Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi.

GM Antam UBP Nickel Konawe Utara, Hendra Wijayanto, said that the commitment was realized through the signing of the Heads of Agreement for the Development of Nickel Refining Business with Alchemist Metal Industry Pte Ltd and PT Gunbuster Nickel Industry.

Alchemist Metal is a company based in Singapore, while Gunbuster Nickel is a Chinese company based on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX).

"This signing was carried out last May which was witnessed directly by the Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, the Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia, and the Director General of Mineral and Coal of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Ridwan Jamaluddin," said Hendra Wijayanto, quoted from Antara, Friday, October 8

This agreement marks the initiation of Antam's new nickel refining business ecosystem in North Konawe and North Morowali, Southeast Sulawesi and marks a new milestone for the MIND ID Group in maximizing the added value of Indonesia's nickel resources.

Hendra Wijayanto also admitted that Antam is fully committed to the implementation of good mining practices in every operation of the company. In carrying out every mining activity, Antam always pays attention to technical aspects and standardization of mining operations and conservation of mineral resources.

In addition, it also puts forward a commitment to maintaining occupational safety and health as well as environmental protection aspects that are guided by environmental documents such as Environmental Impact Analysis Documents (AMDAL) and Post Mining Plan Documents (RPT).

Antam always strives to increase the added value of mining products on an ongoing basis and carry out operational activities in accordance with the principles of good mining practices in line with the company's mining and operations strategy and plans.
