JAKARTA - Pertamina Gas Sub-holding continues to develop the use of natural gas, by building infrastructure both physically and virtual. This is to help the government achieve the target of using gas of 22 percent in the energy mix by 2025.

Pertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati said the key to developing the use of natural gas is infrastructure, currently the Pertamina Gas Sub-holding run by PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) continues to carry out infrastructure development, both physical and non-physical.

"The key to gas development is infrastructure. Now there are various kinds of infrastructure, some are physically built onshore or offshore, some are virtual," said Nicke, while attending the RDP with Commission VII DPR, Wednesday, Wednesday, September 29.

According to Nicke, this infrastructure development can also encourage the achievement of the target of using gas in the national energy mix. "This is our plan to build an energy mix from gas, the key is infrastructure development both in the midstream and downstream gas," he said later.

Nicke also explained that the virtual infrastructure in question is in the form of a gas transportation system in areas that do not yet have a pipeline network using various modes of transportation.

The virtual pipeline is to replace the transmission pipeline, while the gas network is still being built, but in the state budget. The development scheme is called an independent jargas by cooperating with the private sector so that many needs can be served.

"Previously we explained the virtual gas pipeline by ship," he said.

He continued, One of the modes of transportation that will be used for gas transportation is the train, later this method will be used to meet the needs of gas supply in the southern region of Java where there is no pipeline infrastructure.

"Later we will explain the train for the southern region of Java, where the gas pipeline does not yet exist," he said. PGN President Director Haryo said that on the south side of the virtual pipeline, liquefied natural gas (LNG) will be transported from three terminals, namely from Boja Negara, Cilacap and Teluk Lamong. The three locations were chosen because PGN's service market is quite good at these locations.

"So the hope is that to continue this jargas program, we will serve the tenants that we have served," he said.

From the virtual infrastructure, it is planned that 41 cities and regencies will receive gas supplies. To support the virtual pipeline, PGN will build a household gas pipeline network, with a target of 469,669 new households using natural gas and a total gas demand of 7.59 BBTUD.

"Our study is that there are several cities, economically we have to run it. God willing, in 2022 we plan to use 469 thousand of the virtual pipeline utilization patterns that we are running," he concluded.
