1 Million Passengers Crowded Airport Managed By Angkasa Pura I In August 2021, Sultan Hasanuddin Makassar Became The Highest Contributor

JAKARTA - PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) recorded passenger traffic of 1,035,527 passenger movements at 15 airports managed in the period August 2021.

"The Emergency PPKM policy which was implemented from the beginning to the end of July 2021, which was followed by the PPKM Level IV and III policies during August to September, caused flight traffic to drop drastically. This policy was decided by the government to reduce the spike in positive cases of Covid-19 in the country since June ago and Angkasa Pura I support this policy," said President Director of PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) Faik Fahmi in his statement, quoted from Antara, Friday, September 17.

Faik Fahmi said the August traffic grew 10 percent compared to passenger traffic in the previous month, July 2021, which only amounted to 939,620 passenger movements.

Slight growth also occurred in aircraft traffic in August 2021 which amounted to 16,192 aircraft movements or grew 0.1 percent from aircraft traffic in July 2021 which amounted to 16,173 aircraft movements. Likewise, cargo traffic grew by 4.4 percent last August to 31,943,593 kg from 30,589,833 kg in July.

He continued, AP I hopes that community immunity will soon be realized along with the massive Covid-19 vaccination program from the Government so that people can carry out mobility and air travel with a sense of security and comfort.

He explained that the highest passenger traffic in August was at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, Makassar, which amounted to 273,722 passenger movements, while the second highest passenger traffic was at Juanda Airport, Surabaya, which amounted to 206,833 passenger movements, and the third highest passenger traffic was at Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Airport. Meanwhile, the total flight traffic at 15 Angkasa Pura I airports from January to August 2021 is 16,450,928 passenger movements, 204,589 aircraft movements, and 266,363,122 kg of cargo. Faik Fahmi revealed that AP I supports the extension of PPKM Level 2 to 4 implementation in Java and Bali.

He added that AP I always increases the tightening of supervision and coordinates with all stakeholders, including the regional Covid-19 Task Force and the Port Health Office (KKP) as the front line in passenger inspection, especially at Manado's Sam Ratulangi Airport which is the gateway for flights from abroad. country to anticipate the new variant of Covid-19.
