In Medan, Sri Mulyani Launches IDR 1.2 Million Cash Social Assistance For Street Vendors Through The Indonesian National Police

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani Indrawati during a working visit to Medan in order to launch the distribution of cash social assistance (bansos) for street vendors (PKL) and shop owners.

According to the Minister of Finance, support from the state in the form of IDR 1.2 million for 1 million recipients is the basis for the policy of the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM).

"The president has decided to give authority to the TNI and Polri to distribute aid directly to street vendors and shop owners," he said via a virtual channel, Thursday, September 9.

The Minister of Finance added that the government hopes that this financial support can increase cash for street vendors and stalls who are heavily affected by the tightening of mobility. Although community mobility has gradually recovered, this assistance will be useful as an effort to restore the MSME sector.

For information, the launch of the latest aid is claimed to be proof of the state's presence in protecting the whole community, not only individuals but also from activity segments. The government, called the Minister of Finance, will continue to work hard to realize the ideals of protecting the entire nation and the entire homeland of Indonesia.

“The implementation of PPKM greatly affects economic activity, suppresses the social resilience of the poor and vulnerable, and has an impact on the business world. The government also understands the difficult conditions because the business world must temporarily close and take various steps to survive," he said.

"For this reason, this time the state prioritizes assistance for micro-scale businesses because they are the parties most affected by PPKM and do not have sufficient reserve funds," closed the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.
