JAKARTA - The Ministry of State Secretariat uses natural gas from PGN for its canteen. This is an effort to support natural gas as clean energy in the small to commercial business sector.

"We from the Ministry of State Secretary hope that natural gas can be an environmentally friendly solution that must always be put forward. Second, how can access for the public to get natural gas be faster, of course safer," said Sari Harjanti, Political and Public Relations Expert Staff of the Ministry of State Secretariat in an official statement, Thursday, September 2.

According to him, the use of natural gas is very suitable during the pandemic, because it reduces physical contact. "Besides using natural gas, how can PGN improve services that reduce physical contact. So everything is digitalized," said Sari.

According to Sari, his party appreciates PGN for making new breakthroughs in expanding services to customers. Namely the use of natural gas for households.

"Natural gas, which was initiated by PGN with this breakthrough, makes it more economical to subscribe to gas," said Sari.

Sari explained that before using PGN's natural gas, additional costs were needed for postage and so on. The use of natural gas is also safer.

"I believe that with new breakthroughs and equipment that is maintained in such a way, it will eliminate gas leaks," he said. Natural gas is also more efficient and available at all times. With the strategic location of the Ministry of State Secretariat Office, there are times when access to the office is constrained, such as when there are demonstrations, and so on.

“With PGN's services, gas is available at any time, the State Secretariat's offices and canteens do not have to worry. Gas is available 24 hours, so that during holidays, long holidays, and at times when access to the State Secretariat's office is obstructed, it will no longer be a problem," said Sari.

Sari explained that there is a possibility to develop the use of PGN's natural gas within the Ministry of State Secretariat's office, such as for energy water heaters in sports center bathrooms or ablution places.

"We want to be a pioneer (utilization of natural gas) in other ministries. The State Secretariat must be a pioneer and an example in other ministries," said Sari.

Meanwhile, PGN Jakarta Area Head, Sheila Merlianty, revealed that the State Secretariat Canteen is in the category of commercial customers with a gas demand volume of 50 – 1,000 M3.

"Utilization of natural gas is one of the uses of environmentally friendly energy at the Ministry of State Secretariat which is expected to continue to be developed into other utilities for greener energy consumption," said Sheila.

In the DKI Jakarta area, currently PGN Subholding Gas has served 262 industrial commercial customers ranging from malls, hotels and restaurants, 131 small customers, and ± 14,960 household customers. The volume of natural gas distribution in the DKI Jakarta area is ±112 BBTUD.

Along with the development of natural gas infrastructure in the DKI Jakarta area, it is hoped that natural gas customers will also increase.
