Taking Advantage Of Arun's Liquefied Natural Gas, Pertamina Gas Subholding Collaborates With TotalEnergies

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) through its subsidiary, PT PGN Tbk is collaborating with TotalEnergies to utilize liquefied natural gas or Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Hub Arun 2021.

In this collaboration, TotalEnergies will use the Arun LNG Hub Tank to store LNG portfolio commodities from international sources as part of the global LNG market strategy.

President Director of Pertamina Arun Gas (PAG) Arif Widodo as the sole operator of Bonded Logistics Center for LNG commodities in Indonesia in collaboration with TotalEnergies to utilize Arun as the Main LNG Hub Center in Asia.

Arif said, currently the Arun Refinery has 4 (four) LNG tank units with a total capacity of 508,000 m3 (127,000 m3 each tank), which is planned to be used for the LNG Hub business from both domestic and international sources.

According to Arif, TotalEnergies will use 2 (two) LNG Tank units with a total capacity of 207,000 m3.

"We are ready to welcome the first shipment with the LNG Cubal Ship from Angola which has been scheduled for early September 2021," he said in an official statement, Tuesday, August 31.

Arif said, in addition to expanding the business, this collaboration with TotalEnergies is in line with PAG's vision, which is to become a world-class LNG Hub and regasification company.

"As part of Subholding Gas, PAG is able to carry out its role to participate in driving the national economy by developing its business strategy in meeting national energy needs and growth," he added. .

“During the 7 years since PAG was built, we have professional competence and sufficient integrity to attract domestic and international customers. Therefore, this collaboration with TotalEnergies will be an important milestone for PAG in strengthening its role in the international market,” he added.

“Focusing on this deal, we plan to ship vessels from our LNG portfolio in Angola to be stored at the Arun LNG Hub before delivering cargo to customers. We are also excited to collaborate with PAG to maximize our international portfolio strategy,” said Nic Poulteney, Managing Director of TotalEnergies Gas & Power Asia Private Limited.

Arif added, in the meeting, PAG and TotalEnergies have also discussed the potential for exploring long-term cooperation. “Currently PAG is developing its business including penetrating potential new markets. In the LNG Hub business, we plan to revitalize the F-6004 Tank, so that potential companies can immediately take advantage of this infrastructure. In addition, we are also developing several businesses such as Gassing Up Cooling Down Service, LNG Bunkering, and LPG Hub & Transshipment," said Arif.
