PPKM Easing: Dine-in Can Be 50 Percent, Malls Open Until 21.00

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that as the COVID-19 condition in the country improved and the implementation of health protocols and the use of the PeduliLindung application, there were some adjustments to community activities.

One of them is the capacity for dine-in or eating in at shopping centers or malls which has been relaxed again.

As is known, previously the capacity for dine-in or eating in places was limited to only 25 percent. But now it has been increased to 50 percent. Likewise, the operating hours of shopping centers, which were initially limited to 20.00 local time, have now been increased to 21.00 local time.

"First, adjusting the dine-in capacity inside the mall to 50 percent and the mall's operating hours being extended to 21.00, the trial was carried out at 1000 outlets outside the mall and closed spaces with a capacity of 25 percent in Surabaya, Jakarta, Bandung and Semarang," said Luhut in a virtual press conference, Monday, August 30.

Not only that, Luhut said, all industries or factories with a domestic (non-essential) and export (essential) orientation can operate 100 percent with a minimum staff divided into 2 shifts.

“As long as you have IOMKI, get a recommendation from the Ministry of Industry, and use the QR Code to Care for Protect. For critical sectors, they will be required to use the QR Code PeduliLindung starting September 7, 2021," he said.

Luhut said, as of August 29, the total number of people who screened using PeduliLindung in several public sectors such as shopping centers, industry, sports and others had reached 13.6 million people.

"Of the total 13.6 million people, there are 462,000 people who are in the red category, they are not allowed to enter / carry out activities by the system," he explained.

As previously reported, the government has resumed the imposition of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) Level 2-4 on the islands of Java and Bali to suppress the spread of COVID-19. The policy has been extended for 7 days, starting from August 31 to September 6, 2021.
