JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi is optimistic that the ministry he leads can absorb up to 95.87 percent of the budget this year. This was conveyed by the Minister of Transportation when holding a Working Meeting (Raker) with Commission V of the DPR RI yesterday.

"We remain optimistic that by the end of the year we will be able to achieve the prognosis target for the end of 2021 of 95.87 percent," he said, quoted Friday, August 27.

In his presentation, before the closing of August 2021, the Ministry of Transportation's budget realization had touched 50.06 percent or Rp. 17.14 trillion.

The Minister of Transportation explained that the initial ceiling of the Ministry of Transportation's budget for this year was IDR 45.66 trillion. Then, there is a policy of reducing the budget or refocusing the budget for handling COVID-19 of IDR 14.27 trillion.

However, the Ministry of Transportation also received additional budgets, including the initial balance of Public Service Agencies (BLU) of IDR 51.89 billion, State Sharia Securities (SBSN) funds and foreign loans and / or grants (PHLN) of IDR 1.8 trillion, and National Economic Recovery (PEN) budget of Rp992.09 billion.

"So far, the final ceiling for the 2021 Ministry of Transportation budget is IDR 34.24 trillion," he said.

The Minister of Transportation added that the refocusing policy will not affect transportation services, safety aspects, or transportation infrastructure needs.

"Therefore, we are rearranging the priority scale and postponing some infrastructure programs that are not yet urgent," he said.

The Minister of Transportation further explained that the pandemic situation made a number of activities experience obstacles, such as education and research and development (R&D) activities, Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) and BLU also had not reached the target so that absorption could not be realized.

"To overcome this, we have made a number of efforts to accelerate absorption, namely implementing programs consistently without ignoring health protocols, accelerating the completion of land acquisition in infrastructure development projects, and encouraging work units (satker) to accelerate the billing process for activities that have been realized. according to the provisions," concluded the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya.
