Luhut: Of The 5.9 Million Citizens Who Were Screened Through The PeduliLindung Application, 12,459 Of Them Were Rejected

JAKARTA - The Coordinator for the Implementation of the Java-Bali Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that during the easing of PPKM level 4, the number of citizens who screened through the PeduliLindung application reached 5.9 million.

Of that number, 12,459 visitors were refused entry because they did not pass the health protocol.

The PeduliLindung application is used as a screening tool to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 in public places and crowds, such as malls or shopping centers, outdoor sports venues, and industrial factories.

"In total, 5.9 million people were screened on the PeduliLindung application. As of yesterday, 12,459 were not allowed to enter or carry out activities by the system," said Coordinating Minister Luhut in a virtual press conference, Monday, August 23.

The government, said Luhut, is currently continuing to do everything possible to reduce the spread of COVID-19, especially in Java and Bali as the epicenter of the outbreak. Therefore, the screening system and mechanism is very important to reduce the rate of case transmission.

The government will also test the health protocol and use the PeduliLindung application in the BRI Liga 1 Football match which will be held on 27-29 August 202 in DKI Jakarta and will be held without spectators with a maximum of 3 matches.

"Similarly with shopping centers, malls and industries, strict Health Protocols will be implemented and the use of the PeduliLindung application will also be used," he said.

Not only that, said Luhut, the government will also encourage the use of the PeduliLindung application for all modes of transportation, be it trains, public buses, or crossing ships. While the aviation sector has already used the application.

Luhut said the adjustment or relaxation of the PPKM made in recent weeks had an impact on increasing community mobility and activities. He said, this was detected from the Google Composite and Mobility Index which had increased.

On the one hand, he said, this is a positive thing because the community's economic activity is recovering quickly.

"But on the other hand, increasing community mobility has the potential to increase the spread of cases. So we have to be very careful," explained Luhut.
