JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) revealed that more than 32 million customers of PT PLN (Persero) received electricity stimulus during the first semester of 2021.
The government has also decided to extend the provision of electricity stimulus to the public and business actors in the fourth quarter or until December 2021
The Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Rida Mulyana, said the government had allocated a budget for the electricity stimulus in the third and fourth quarters of 2021, amounting to Rp4.97 trillion. The budget consists of the third quarter of 2021 amounting to Rp2.43 trillion and the fourth quarter of 2021 amounting to Rp2.54 trillion.
According to Rida, the extension of the stimulus is proof of the state's presence to help people get through difficult times like the current COVID-19 pandemic. However, he hopes that people will continue to save electricity and improve electricity safety during this pandemic.
His party has instructed PLN to carry out the provision of the electricity program stimulus until December 2021.
Meanwhile, PLN's Director of Commerce and Customer Management Bob Saril hopes that the extension of the electricity stimulus can boost the productivity of the community and business actors, as well as increase people's purchasing power during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We always support by carrying out the government's decision to provide electrical stimulus for small communities and businesses affected by COVID-19," he said, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, July 21.
