Luhut Gives Good News, This Emergency PPKM Coordinator Requests That Vaccinations And Social Assistance Be Provided Directly To The Community

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan who is also the Coordinator of the Java-Bali Emergency PPKM requested that vaccinations and social assistance be given directly to the community.

This was conveyed by Luhut in a Meeting on Vaccination Reports, Implementation of Mobility Restrictions, Optimizing TNI Facilities for Isolation and Basic Food which was held virtually, Friday 9 July.

"I ask the Kapolda and Pangdam to do more patrols in the outskirts. Vaccinations can then go directly there, in the outskirts," said Coordinating Minister Luhut in a written statement quoted by Antara.

Coordinating Minister Luhut said that in July 2021 there would be an additional 46 million doses of vaccine. Additional vaccines can be directed to suburban or slum areas that do not have access to health facilities.

"I want a suburban area or a slum area, we will pick up the ball for vaccines," said Coordinating Minister Luhut.

In line with the injection of vaccines, the distribution of rice aid in these marginal areas is also considered necessary to be carried out simultaneously. Coordinating Minister Luhut emphasized that the state must be present among the people through targeted donations to those in need.

He then gave directions to the TNI/Polri to find marginal locations in each region and ensure the availability of food, especially rice.

"Once again, micro-targeting. Vaccines, drugs, and social assistance in the form of rice for those living in rural areas must be implemented, lest they cannot eat," said Coordinating Minister Luhut.

Furthermore, he also asked the ministers who were present to be able to respond according to the fields and duties of their respective functions related to reports given by the Panglima and Kapolda of each region.

Responding to the request, SOE Minister Erick Thohir said that his party would support the Ministry of SOE's main functions.

"I'll do a videocon with the Minister of Health regarding this, for the rice assistance it will go through Bulog. Coincidentally, the price of rice is also going down, sir, so later from the region you can buy rice, later we will help with the buying process," said Erick Thohir.

The Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, said the same thing. "We will hand over 1,500 packages to TNI/Polri posts for 100 regencies/cities," he said.

Social Minister Risma added that field officers can also apply for food aid if needed.
