JAKARTA - The Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo) participated in tackling the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic by handing over a donation of oxygen cylinders to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov).

General Chairperson of Aprindo Roy Mandey said this initiative was a form of concern for business actors to communities exposed to COVID-19.

"Although the retail industry sector also faces big challenges in the pandemic era, this does not dampen our intention to share with the affected communities, especially in the health sector," he said in a written statement, Thursday, July 8.

According to Roy, the current implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) must be accompanied by increased attention to others. This is because caring in difficult times will be very effective in reducing the burden on other communities.

“We do this for no other purpose than on humanitarian grounds. Aprindo's real action is a form of mutual cooperation between retail business actors to realize the oxygen assistance that has been desperately needed," he said.

Roy hopes that this action can knock other parties to carry out similar activities so that the burden caused by the pandemic can be reduced so that together we can get out of the current crisis.

"We hope that with this real and active participation, various business actors across sectors and industries can participate together in providing support and benefits for humanity," he said.

For information, the oxygen cylinder donation was handed over to the Assistant Secretary of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, Sri Haryati, to be then distributed to a number of hospitals in need in the capital city.
