Inhibiting The Spread Of COVID-19, Jokowi Targets 100 Thousand Financial Services Sector Players To Be Vaccinate This Week

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reviewed the COVID-19 vaccination for players in the financial services sector. The vaccination was held at the Tennis Indoor Senayan, Bung Karno Gelora Complex (GBK).

This mass vaccination aims to immediately form herd immunity. Furthermore, Jokowi also hopes that vaccination for players in the financial services sector can inhibit the spread of the virus more quickly.

"This morning we carried out a mass vaccination in the financial services sector which was attended by approximately 10 thousand, which later this week the target is approximately 100 thousand," he said, on the sidelines of a mass vaccination review at GBK on Wednesday, June 16.

Jokowi also said that the government targets the injection of COVID-19 vaccination to reach 1 million in one day.

"Previously, it was 500,000 thousand injections per day. Later in early July 2021, it must have reached 1 million injections per day. With this acceleration, we hope we can reduce the spread of COVID," he said.

During his visit, Jokowi was also accompanied by Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners, Wimboh Santoso and Governor of Bank Indonesia, Perry Warjiyo.

This mass vaccination was held by OJK together with the Indonesian Ministry of Health. This is a form of government effort in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic and accelerating economic recovery.

In addition, this program is also part of OJK's efforts to increase capacity building of the financial services industry, and improve the quality of human resources in the financial services sector in providing excellent service to the community (recycling program).

As is known, players in the financial services sector have a high intensity of direct contact with customers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Simultaneous provision of mass vaccinations was also carried out with regional offices and OJK offices in 10 other cities, namely Medan, Palembang, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, Denpasar, Banjarmasin, Makassar, Yogyakarta and Jambi.
