Member of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives, PKB Faction, Sudjatmiko, considers the acceleration of infrastructure development in West Java to be an important factor in maintaining the growth rate of the economy as well as improving connectivity in the province with the largest population in Indonesia.

According to him, infrastructure development requires strong synergy between the central government, provincial government, and district/city governments so that strategic projects can be realized on time and have an impact on people's economic activities.

"Infrastructure development in West Java must not be partial. All stakeholders must work together so that every strategic project can be realized on time," said Sudjatmiko, Friday, July 3, 2026.

He said one of the main obstacles that still hinder the acceleration of the project is the land acquisition process.

In fact, he continued, the central government through the technical ministry has prepared a program with budget support.

According to Sudjatmiko, the delay in land settlement not only has the potential to delay construction, but also hinders the absorption of government budgets that have been allocated.

He gave an example, the flyover construction project in Bekasi City which was technically considered ready to be worked on, but is still waiting for land acquisition to be completed before construction begins.

Apart from connectivity, Commission V of the DPR RI also highlighted the importance of developing water resources infrastructure as part of flood mitigation efforts in several areas of West Java.

"Flood management is not enough just by building physical infrastructure. We need good spatial planning, maintaining water catchment areas, strengthening greenery along the riverbanks, and preparing safe settlement solutions for the community," he said.

He also asked the regional government to prepare planning documents that meet the readiness criteria so that it is easier to obtain funding support from the central government, including through the Presidential Instruction (Inpres) scheme.

According to him, the readiness of the project will accelerate the realization of government investment in the infrastructure sector which ultimately can increase connectivity, productivity, and public welfare in West Java.

"Commission V of the DPR RI will continue to monitor the development of infrastructure so that it runs according to target. Quality development not only accelerates economic growth, but also improves the quality of life of the community, strengthens regional connectivity, and creates sustainable development throughout West Java," concluded Sudjatmiko.
