JAKARTA - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa revealed that he had received funding worth US$ 17 billion or approximately Rp301.41 trillion (exchange rate of Rp17,730 per US dollar) from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to support various national development projects during the period 2025-2029.

The commitment was obtained in a bilateral meeting between Purbaya and his entourage with the AIIB leadership in Beijing, China.

This funding support is expected to strengthen the financing capacity for development and accelerate the realization of various strategic government projects.

"The most important thing is that we managed to secure funding of around US$ 17 billion for development projects in Indonesia between 2025-2029. That is a very large contribution to financing development projects in Indonesia," he said in a written statement, Thursday, June 18.

According to Purbaya, the funding is part of a Multi-Year Rolling Pipeline scheme that has been discussed with the AIIB.

He added that although some projects had been planned in advance, the financing commitment from the multilateral institution would provide important support for the implementation of Indonesia's development agenda in the next few years.

In addition to funding support, Purbaya said Indonesia also received a positive signal regarding the AIIB's plan to expand its presence in the country.

Meanwhile, the AIIB expressed its interest in opening a representative office in Jakarta to strengthen cooperation and increase the effectiveness of coordination in the implementation of projects supported by the institution.

"AIIB is also interested in building a kind of branch office in Jakarta. We certainly welcome this intention and I hope that in June next year the office will be standing," he said.

Furthermore, Purbaya emphasized that the AIIB still has a high level of confidence in Indonesia's fiscal conditions.

According to him, there is no concern from the AIIB regarding fiscal management and the prospects for the national economy.

"They have no problem with Indonesia's finances. They believe in our fiscal credibility and creativity," he said.
