JAKARTA - PT Saka Energi Indonesia (SAKA) officially obtained the Plan of Development (POD) of the Ronggolawe - PHE-7 Field in the Pangkah Working Area (WK) from SKK Migas. This field is planned to start producing (onstream) by the end of 2029.

"This POD approval is an important step in SAKA's efforts to accelerate the development of oil and gas resources into production that provides added value for the Company," said SAKA Exploration and Development Director, Fuji Koesumadewi, quoted Friday, June 12.

He added that the POD approval was supported by the results of a comprehensive analysis of the RGL-3 well, thus providing a strong technical basis in the preparation of the field development plan.

Previously, in 2025 SAKA had submitted the Exploration Status Determination (PSE) document for the Ronggolawe Field as a follow-up to the successful discovery of hydrocarbons in the RGL-1 exploration well in 2012, which was then confirmed through the RGL-3 well appraisal activity in 2024 at the Pangkah Block.

The development of this field is projected to contribute to production of up to 5,126 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) at its peak production. Overall, this field is estimated to have resources of up to 10 million barrels of oil that can be utilized until the end of the contract period, so it is expected to support efforts to increase national oil and gas production.

The presence of hydrocarbons in the Ronggolawe Structure is identified in the CD Carbonate layer. This potential is proven through a series of technical evaluations, including layer containment tests (Drill Stem Test), reservoir pressure testing, and fluid sample collection and analysis. The results of the evaluation show the potential of the field to be prospectively developed further.

In the development plan of the Ronggolawe Field - PHE-7 which has been approved, four development wells will be drilled which will then be connected to the existing production facility at WK Pangkah through an underwater pipeline network.

The development of the Ronggolawe Field - PHE-7 is a strategy for unitization between WK Pangkah and WK West Madura Offshore (WMO) which is operated by Pertamina Hulu Energi WMO. This is in line with SAKA's efforts to optimize production at WK Pangkah while accelerating the monetization of exploration findings into producing fields.

"In its implementation, SAKA will continue to prioritize efficiency and cost effectiveness as well as operational activities, while upholding the aspects of occupational safety and environmental protection," said Fuji.
