MATARAM - The Chairman of the West Nusa Tenggara DPRD, Baiq Isvie Rupaeda, admitted that he was concerned and regretted the decision of the Central Lombok Regency Government to close a number of modern retailers without thinking about the impact caused by the decision.

"We express our concern and regret over the decision of the Central Lombok Regency to close the stall without adequate dialogue," he said in Mataram.

He said that if there were violations of the rules by modern retailers, the local government should give them time to improve and complete the requirements before closing the outlets.

"This is an economic and social problem in the midst of such a difficult economic condition, so it is wise to make decisions and consider the social impact," said Isvie.

According to Isvie, the local government must prioritize steps of dialogue and compliance with rules before making decisions, especially those that have a wide impact on the community.

"It's strange that this closure is in the Central Lombok while similar outlets remain in the area. Before making a decision, prioritize dialogue and compliance with rules," he said.

Previously, the Central Lombok Regency Government closed as many as 25 modern retail outlets, consisting of 18 Alfamart outlets and 7 Indomaret outlets.

The Central Lombok Regency Government emphasized that the closure of modern retail was due to violating regional regulations (Perda) and is expected to have an impact on strengthening local economic growth as well as micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

"A total of 25 modern retailers have closed independently until today in accordance with the given deadline," said the Head of the Central Lombok Investment and One-Stop Service Agency (DPMPTSP) Dalilah in Central Lombok, Monday.

He said that the Regulation Number 7 of 2021 concerning the Arrangement and Development of People's Markets, Shopping Centers and Convenience Stores was formed in order to increase the number of MSMEs.

Therefore, this modern retail discipline is expected to strengthen the local economy or MSMEs in Central Lombok.

"The point is that this modern retail is closed because it does not comply with the regulations that have been established," he said.
