The construction of 93 People's School Points is targeted to be completed by June 2026

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo targets the construction of 93 People's Schools (SR) can be completed by June 2026.

Dody said that initially, the government targeted 104 schools that would be completed, but currently, as many as 93 points can be worked on to the maximum.

This was conveyed by Dody in a Coordination Meeting (Rakor) related to SR with the Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf in Jakarta, Tuesday, May 26.

"After checking the overall readiness of the land and others, God willing, we target to complete by June 2026. We will continue to pursue so that these 93 points can be fully functional to support the new school year in July 2026," said Dody as quoted from a written statement, Wednesday, May 27.

To accelerate the completion, the PU Ministry has formed a Task Force for the Acceleration of SR Development, adding manpower to carry out construction method innovations.

Until May 25, 2026, the construction of the People's School has absorbed 71,579 workers.

Meanwhile, to overcome the challenge of limited cash flow for some construction service providers, the Ministry of PU has coordinated with Danantara and Himbara banks to support the financing of work implementation.

"For service providers who experience cash flow constraints, we have coordinated with Danantara so that they can be assisted by Himbara banks," he said.

Dody did not deny that there were some areas with the progress of the SR development behind, such as in North Lombok. For this reason, his party has involved Zeni TNI to catch up.

"In terms of manpower, we will involve the support of the TNI Zeni as we have done in the SR in North Lombok, at points where progress has been delayed, so that the target for completion can still be pursued," he said.

Furthermore, Dody said, after it was completed, his party would enter the construction of SR phase 3 which was divided into 3A, 3B and 3C.

In detail, the SR phase 3A in seven locations has entered the auction process, phase 3B in 11 locations in the auction preparation phase. Meanwhile, phase 3C with 89 locations still requires fulfillment of readiness criteria.

"We hope that the readiness criteria and land problems such as ownership status, land maturity, AMDAL and so on at 89 points in the 3C phase can be immediately resolved with the local government, bridged by KSP and the Ministry of Home Affairs," explained Dody.

"So, the auction can be carried out immediately and the construction can be completed by June 2027 at the latest," he continued.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf appreciated the support of the Ministry of PU in accelerating the provision of SR facilities and infrastructure. According to him, the challenges in the field are indeed big, but the Ministry of PU is still taking various acceleration steps, so that construction is still completed according to target.

"The challenges in the field are indeed big, but Minister PU has come down directly and continues to accelerate so that these facilities can be used for new school year learning," he concluded.
