KEK Industropolis Batang has once again proven its title as the new center of gravity of sustainable industry in Southeast Asia by conquering the Central European investment stage.

In the series of the Indonesia-Hungary Investment and Business Forum held on May 20-21, 2026 in Budapest - specifically through a business forum themed "Indonesia's New Economic Frontier: Investing in Batang Integrated Estate and Health Special Economic Zone" at Novotel Danube - this area successfully secured strategic agreements that will change the face of the national industry: the construction of massive-scale solar energy infrastructure and the most advanced water management system.

This monumental success is the fruit of the full support, intensive facilitation, and active involvement of the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Budapest in weaving strategic connections between regional management and government institutions as well as the business world in Hungary. This major step was carried out solidly together with the Secretariat of the National Council of KEK, the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), IIPC London, and the full support of the Indonesian Embassy in Budapest.

This activity was started with a warm welcome from the Indonesian Ambassador to Hungary, Mrs. Penny D. Herasati, who emphasized the importance of bilateral diplomatic and economic relations, as well as the commitment of the Indonesian Embassy in Budapest to bridge Hungarian business actors to Indonesia. This support was emphasized by Ms. Katalin Bihari, CEO of Hungarian Export Promotion Agency (HEPA), who stated the readiness of the Hungarian business community to collaborate concretely through the utilization of the Indonesian Investment Agency (KIE) in the industrial technology sector and smart city.

This forum presents a line-up of key speakers, including the Head of IIPC London, Mrs. Siti Tierfiyani Fahiyah, Acting. Secretary General of the National Council of KEK, Mr. Rizal Edwin Manansang, and the President Director of KEK Industropolis Batang, Mr. Ngurah Wirawan. Also present is the KSP Expert, Mr. M. Putra Hutama. This forum intensively promotes investment opportunities in KEK Industropolis Batang to establish strategic partnerships that facilitate investment in the infrastructure sector, pharmaceuticals, to the electric vehicle ecosystem.

KEK Industropolis Batang's seriousness in leading the green energy transition is realized through investment exploration with Merlion Teck Ltd. Both parties have agreed on a plan to develop a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) with a prestigious capacity of 100-200 Megawatts on an area of 200 hectares. Through a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) scheme, this project will be the backbone of the provision of clean energy that is competitive for tenants in the area.

The presence of this giant PLTS is a real answer for global corporations looking for investment destinations with uncompromising ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) compliance standards. This series of explorations was also initiated by Suryo Tutuko, Industropolis Batang SEZ Representative in Europe, who encouraged the initial meeting to develop into a formal commitment.

Not only energy, KEK Industropolis Batang also strengthens the utility pillar through a strategic alliance with Iconic Energy Kft which focuses on circular economy solutions and zero-waste operations. This synergy is strengthened by collaboration with the Hungarian Water Partnership (HWP) to bring the best water treatment technology and water quality monitoring systems from Hungary to Indonesia.

Through the potential of an integrated water management pilot project, KEK Industropolis Batang is ready to provide certainty of world-class utility services that are in line with the sustainability of the local ecosystem.

He emphasized that the success of converting a business forum into a tangible technical investment commitment is proof of the strength of the regulations and facilities of the SEZ provided by the state.
