JAKARTA - Entering the age of 61 years, PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk (PGN) as a Subholding of Pertamina Gas strengthens its role as the backbone of the national natural gas infrastructure through supply reinforcement, LNG development, and expansion of low-emission energy networks. PGN also continues to maintain business resilience to ensure independent and sustainable energy availability in the midst of global energy dynamics.
"For 61 years, PGN has continued to transform to ensure that natural gas is always present for the community through supply diversification, infrastructure strengthening, service innovation, and commitment to the implementation of ESG aspects," said PGN Corporate Secretary Fajriyah Usman, Wednesday, May 13.
In the past year, PGN has recorded various strategic steps as a form of consistency in maintaining the reliability of services and national energy resilience. PGN is actively securing domestic pipeline and LNG gas supplies from various sources such as Tangguh and Donggi Senoro, as well as opening up new supply potential from the Masela, Andaman, WK Tungkal blocks, the development of Coalbed Methane (CBM) in Muara Enim, to biomethane as part of the development of future energy.
The strengthening of supply is also realized through various strategic agreements, including the signing of several Gas Sales and Purchase Agreements (PJBG) in IPA Convex 2025, cooperation in the West Natuna gas swap, to the HOA LNG Masela Block with INPEX Masela.
The utilization of LNG to support supply resilience is also increasing. PGN received additional domestic LNG supplies, and for the first time implemented the receipt of LNG cargo through the West Java FSRU. PGN has also completed the revitalization of the Arun F-6004 LNG Tank with a capacity of 127,000 m³ which is ready to operate serving the Southeast Asian and South Asian markets in line with the development of the LNG Hub business.
In terms of operations, PGN's natural gas distribution volume reached 777 BBTUD, with gas transmission volume reaching 1,539 MMSCFD (per Quarter I 2026). Gas distribution management is carried out optimally with a main focus on maintaining customer operational sustainability amid the challenges of national and global economic dynamics.
PGN continues to strengthen its position as the manager of more than 95 percent of the national natural gas infrastructure. PGN added around 230 kilometers of new pipeline network to expand access to natural gas energy in various regions of Indonesia. Infrastructure development is also strengthened through various strategic collaborations with national and international business partners.
Currently, with a market share of more than 91 percent, PGN's operational area covers 18 provinces and 78 cities/districts and is supported by a national natural gas pipeline network of more than 33,490 km.
"PGN also continues to expand services beyond the pipeline through the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) retail as an energy solution for people who are not yet covered by the natural gas pipeline network. CNG service expansion is carried out in various regions, including Medan through the construction of a CNG mother station and Bandung, to meet the energy needs of the industrial, commercial, MSME sectors to hotels, restaurants, and cafes (horeka)," explained Fajriyah.
The expansion of the utilization of natural gas is also increasingly widespread, reaching the household sector, which has now reached more than 820,000 Home Connections (SR). PGN also expands its gas to modern residential areas, Wisma Atlet Kemayoran apartment houses, to explore new areas such as Jatengland and BSB City.
