JAKARTA - The South Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) II functional toll road has begun to be functional to support the smooth flow of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming. The length of the functional section that was opened reached about 52 kilometers.
Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo said the opening of the South Japek II was part of the government's efforts to ensure the smooth mobility of the community during the Lebaran homecoming and return period.
"The opening of the South Japek II function is one of the concrete efforts to reduce congestion in the main corridor and provide alternative routes for the community," Dody said in a written statement, Tuesday, March 24.
The lane is specifically for Group I vehicles from Bandung to Jakarta, as an alternative route to help relieve traffic congestion on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Corridor and MBZ Flyover.
Technically, the toll road section that is functional includes Section 3 Setu-Sukaragam (7.75 kilometers), Section 4 Sukaragam-Sukabungah (13.00 kilometers), Section 5 Sukabungah-Kutanegara (22.75 kilometers), and Section 6 Kutanegara-Sadang (8.50 kilometers).
One of the road users, Andra Oktaviani, who traveled in the reverse direction from Bandung to Parung Panjang, Bogor Regency, admitted that the route was quite helpful for his journey to his destination.
"The journey feels smoother and the travel time is more efficient because it doesn't have to pass through density points on the main line," he explained.
Meanwhile, another road user, Muhammad Ali, who was traveling to South Tangerang, also said that the route provided a more controlled travel option even though it was still in the functional stage.
"The track is quite comfortable to pass and becomes an alternative for travel to help during the return flow," he said.
Road users who pass through the functional section are also urged to remain vigilant, obey signs and follow the instructions of officers in the field.
To note, the South Japek II Toll Road is designed along 64.05 kilometers. When fully connected, the section will connect the Jakarta Outer Ring Road Toll Road in Bekasi with the Purbaleunyi Toll Road in Sadang, Purwakarta.
Then it is equipped with seven toll gates, namely GT Jatiasih; GT Bantar Gebang; GT Setu; GT Sukaragam; GT Taman Mekar; GT Kutanegara; and GT Sadang.
