JAKARTA - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) predicts that the daily volume of Whoosh passengers will increase by 25 percent on the 2026 Lebaran.
General Manager Corporate Secretary of PT KCIC Eva Chairunisa explained that the surge was different from normal days which ranged from 16-18 thousand passengers and on weekends as many as 20 thousand passengers.
"If the prediction of daily volume increases per day, we predict that it can increase by up to 25 percent compared to normal days. So, if normal days are around 16-18 thousand (passengers)," he told ANTARA when met at the KCIC Halim Station, East Jakarta, Wednesday.
In fact, said Eva, the increase could reach 30 percent during the Lebaran moment.
"So we see that the percentage will likely increase by 25 to 30 percent," he said.
Previously, Eva said that the number of passengers in the 2025 Lebaran period was recorded at around 290 thousand people and is predicted to increase to around 301 thousand passengers in Lebaran 2026.
"The increase in the number of passengers shows the increasing public interest in using Whoosh as a transportation option during the Lebaran holiday period," said Eva in Bandung, West Java, Sunday (15/3).
KCIC also estimates that the peak passenger movement will occur in two main periods during the 2026 Lebaran Transportation period.
"The increase in passenger volume is expected to begin to be seen since March 17, 2026 and continue to increase until it approaches Lebaran, with the peak of the homecoming flow predicted to occur on H-1 Lebaran or March 20, 2026," he said.
