JAKARTA - Nusa Mandiri Innovation Center (NIC) encourages students of Nusa Mandiri University (UNM) to develop digital innovations that are not only based on ideas, but also relevant to market and community needs.
Head of NIC Fitra Septia Nugraha said that student innovation must be able to provide real solutions while having the opportunity to be implemented in the real world.
"Good innovation is not just an interesting idea, but a solution that answers the needs of the community and can be implemented," said Fitra in a written statement received by VOI, Wednesday, March 17.
To support the development of this innovation, NIC shares six strategies that students can do.
First, start innovation from real problems in society such as the education sector, health, MSMEs, tourism and information technology.
Second, research and validate ideas through surveys or interviews with potential users.
Third, develop a prototype or minimum viable product (MVP) so that innovations can be tested faster and developed based on user input.
Fourth, build cross-disciplinary collaboration between students to produce more comprehensive solutions.
Fifth, utilize the mentoring and incubation programs provided by NIC to mature product development.
Sixth, publish innovation products through digital platforms and develop commercialization opportunities.
Fitra assessed that strengthening the innovation ecosystem on campus is an important step to encourage the birth of digital talent who are able to contribute to the development of the digital economy.
"We want students to have a creator mindset, not just users of technology," he said.
NIC is optimistic that through continuous mentoring, UNM students can produce digital innovations that are competitive and have an economic impact.
