JAKARTA - PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI) opens opportunities for cooperation with the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI) in the development of waste processing projects into electricity or Waste to Energy (WtE) in Indonesia.
PT SMI President Director Reynaldi Hermansjah said that the collaboration has the potential to be carried out as part of the Company's efforts to solve the increasingly urgent waste management issues in various regions.
"I think it is not impossible that we can collaborate with Danantara in the context of solving the problem of waste in Indonesia," said Reynaldi in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, March 10.
However, he emphasized that until now there has been no specific time target or project that will be worked on together.
"We don't have a specific target yet, but I think this sector can work together (with Danantara)," he said.
As is known, the WtE program is a national initiative to process urban waste into electrical energy. This program is designed as a solution to the emergency waste conditions in various cities while supporting national energy resilience.
Danantara targets the development of WtE projects in 33 locations in Indonesia.
Danantara Roesan Roeslani's CEO stated that his party would soon announce the winning company of the first phase of the waste to energy project tender in four cities, namely Denpasar, Bekasi, Bogor, and Yogyakarta.
The announcement of the project winners is scheduled for March 2026.
After the first phase in the four cities, Danantara also plans to open a tender for the WtE project in nine other cities in April 2026 or after Lebaran.
On the other hand, PT SMI recorded the total value of projects that have been financed until 2025 reaching IDR 1,183 trillion. Of this amount, as many as 129 projects are part of national strategic projects (PSN).
In addition, SMI also offers PT SMI Infrastructure Retail Bonds (ORIS) with an indicative target of raising funds of up to IDR 300 billion. This instrument is part of the Sustainable Public Offering of PT SMI Sustainable Bond Phase II of 2026.
