Sido Muncul Gives Free Cataract Surgery at Maranatha Bandung Hospital

JAKARTA - PT Industri Jamu Dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk (SIDO) through one of its flagship products, Tolak Angin, in collaboration with the Indonesian Association of Ophthalmologists (Perdami) Center and Maranatha Hospital (RS) held a free cataract surgery social service at Maranatha Hospital (RS) Bandung, on Monday, February 2.

This activity is a tangible proof of Sido Muncul which will enter its 75th anniversary in November that will be its commitment in the field of public health, especially in reducing the number of blindness due to cataracts in Indonesia.

This free cataract operation is intended for 200 sufferers in the Bandung area and its surroundings. The assistance was symbolically handed over by the Director of Sido Muncul, Dr. (H.C.) Irwan Hidayat to the President Director of Maranatha Hospital, dr. Ferdinan Sutejo, MMR, witnessed by the Head of the Bandung Regency Health Service. Bandung, dr. Hj. Yuli Irnawati Mosjasari, M.M. and representatives of the Department of Blindness and Cataract Prevention of the Indonesian Ophthalmologists Association (DPBK Pusat), dr. Rizal A. Fanany, SpM(K).

Sido Muncul Director, DR. (H.C.) Irwan Hidayat said, the free cataract surgery baksos in Bandung is the first Sido Muncul social activity in 2026. The free cataract surgery baksos program is also one of Sido Muncul's efforts to play an active role in helping the government, especially in the field of eye health.

"This is the first operation in 2026. Since 2011, a total of 57,000 eyes have been successfully operated. Not a pair of eyes, but 57,000 eyes," said Irwan.

Irwan explained that cataracts are degenerative diseases whose numbers continue to increase as the population ages, so the effort to cure it is a homework that will never really be completed.

"Every year the sufferers increase by one percent, or about 280,000 new people. I think this work will never be finished. But I'm happy to be able to participate, we are in the middle (government program). The principle is, we do this concern by helping others," explained Irwan.
