JAKARTA - The government agreed that the land conflict owned by hundreds of transmigrants in Bekambit Village, Kotabaru Regency, South Kalimantan Province (Kalsel), was a form of maladministration.

Minister of Transmigration (Mentrans) M. Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara conveyed this after discussing with Deputy Minister of Land and Spatial Planning/Deputy Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Ossy Dermawan.

"After the two of us listened to the explanation from one of the directors general (director general) at the Ministry of ATR/BPN, the two of us agreed that this was in the quotation mark of maladministration. In the issuance of the SK cancellation of the SHM," said Iftitah in a press conference at his office, Wednesday, February 11.

Iftitah revealed that there were 438 families (KK) affected, with 441 land areas covering 717 hectares (ha).

He targeted, the completion of the problem which started from the viral video of a transmigrant asking for government justice through social media could be completed in the near future.

In addition, said Iftitah, his party has also sent a team to the field to accelerate the completion.

"So, (on) Saturday or Sunday this week I think there is already one certainty," he said.

Later, the first step taken is the issuance of a SK canceling the SHM of hundreds of transmigrant residents. Then, mediation will be carried out to find solutions for the further use of land.

"After the SHM is obtained, what is the next step? Well, that will be answered during the mediation," he said.

One of the factors that trigger the emergence of land conflicts is that transmigrant-owned land is considered unproductive, so it is considered as abandoned land.

Therefore, Iftitah appealed that transmigrants can make good use of the land given for business, whether it is agriculture, plantations or livestock.

"In addition, the public is also urged to report their land to BPN if the land is not inhabited.

"So when there is a proposal from the village, for example, consideration to be managed so that it is more productive, there are investors and so on, BPN does not unilaterally cancel it just because, for example, the owner is no longer there," he explained.
