JAKARTA - Minister of Cooperatives (Menkop) Ferry Juliantono claims that the Red and White Village/Neighborhood Cooperative (Kopdes) will become a strategic economic institution that is able to optimize the role of the Millennials, Gen Z to Gen Alpha in village economic development.
Kopdes is touted as a solution to the creation of employment, which is currently very limited in number.
Ferry said that cooperatives are no longer just synonymous with savings and loans, but have evolved into modern business entities that can absorb young workers and encourage national economic growth.

He emphasized that the increasing number of young generations must be anticipated by creating alternative employment.

Ferry even gave an example, cooperatives can be a solution for content creators and animators who need initial capital before getting a production contract.
Through the Rolling Fund Management Institution (LPDB), cooperatives can finance them from the beginning.
"Once they create a cooperative, LPDB can finance it. After there is a contract, the bank that distributes KUR can join financing. This is very helpful for the younger generation," he explained.
Furthermore, Ferry emphasized that the support of all parties is very important so that the Red and White Kopdes can really become a driving force for village economies as well as a solution for creating jobs for the younger generation.
"With the more massive economic circulation in villages, it is hoped that it will collectively encourage national economic growth," he added.
