Mayor Bobby Nasution: The Future Of Medan Is Optimal Use Of Mass Transportation

JAKARTA - The City Government of Medan, North Sumatra, said that mass transportation will be the future transportation that has received full support from the Ministry of Transportation.

"We hope that public and mass transportation in Medan City can function optimally for the future", said Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution in Medan, quoted from Antara, Monday, May 31.

This statement was made by President Jokowi's son-in-law in response to the one-day visit of the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi who visited the Medan Train Station, Saturday, May 29.

The Medan City Government will immediately harmonize the Ministry of Transportation's programs that will later be running, especially for the capital city of North Sumatra Province, which has a population of more than two million people.

The Mayor invites all residents to use mass transportation in order to optimize, especially reduce significant congestion and enjoy the impact of development.

"We support the development carried out by the Minister in improving railway facilities and BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) facilities in Medan City so that they run well", said Bobby.

During his visit, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi admitted that his party had seen mass transportation, such as trains, "Light Rail Transit/LRT", and BRT which could be used as future transportation in Medan City.

"As a person who is concerned about mass transportation, I certainly have an extraordinary desire. In fact, on this occasion, I conveyed that trains are the future of Medan City", he said.
