Bengkulu - The Land Bank and the Provincial Government (Pemprov) Bengkulu collaborate to manage the potential of 20,000 hectares (ha) of former Land Use Rights (HGU) that have expired and are no longer extended in the region.
"Today we signed a memorandum of understanding with the Bengkulu Provincial Government for cooperation on potential land or former rights in Bengkulu Province for regional development with a total estimate of around 20,000 ha," said Acting Head of the Land Bank of the Real Estate Sudrajat after signing the MoU in Jakarta, Tuesday, January 13.
"This MoU is important for us to unite the planning process in a more targeted and sustainable way," he continued.
Hakiki added that the study on the potential land was carried out in cooperation with the Bengkulu Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) through spatial planning.
"Of course we will review the study on existing defense potential. We will work with the Bengkulu Provincial Forkopimda to rearrange, especially the space," he said.
Meanwhile, Bengkulu Governor Helmi Hasan added that HGU in Bengkulu that has expired and is no longer extended its concession period, will be made Regional Property (BMD) so that it can be managed.
If BMD can be managed, it is believed that it will become a new Regional Original Income (PAD) for Bengkulu.
"We know now the difficulties in income. Every district/city, especially the small regional income is difficult, plus there is efficiency. Therefore, today's MoU is actually to find new PAD innovations without pressing small communities," he explained.
"And God willing, this 20,000 (hectares), it's just the initial data," he added.
Helmi said that the potential 20,000 hectares of land was planned to be used for industrial areas in the agricultural sector for the downstreaming of coffee and cooking oil.
In addition, the Bengkulu Provincial Government wants the development of regional Final Treatment Facilities (TPA) which until now have not been able to accommodate garbage alias full and housing development to support the 3 Million House Program.
"So, this is to return the land to the government, especially the provincial, district, city governments, to be used as a source of local original income," he said.
