JAKARTA - The Oil and Gas Upstream Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) has strengthened steps to accelerate the restoration of energy access in disaster-affected areas, especially Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, through a number of strategic policies.
Head of BPH Migas Wahyudi Anas said one of the main efforts being made at this time is to extend the relaxation of the purchase of fuel oil (BBM) in affected areas.
The policy is aimed at making it easier for the public to obtain fuel to support disaster management and economic activity recovery.
"For Aceh and West Sumatra provinces, the relaxation is still in effect, which makes it easier for people to get special disaster management fuel," said Wahyudi as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 7.
He explained that the relaxation extension for the third time includes Solar and Pertalite types of fuel.
Distribution can be done manually without using a QR code in the emergency response area, so that the distribution process can take place faster.
The implementation of the policy is carried out by PT Pertamina Patra Niaga as the implementing business entity of the assignment, which continues to ensure the availability and smooth distribution of fuel in the affected areas.
"This relaxation is valid until at least January 8, 2026. We have issued recommendations to the local government and Pertamina Patra Niaga to help accelerate recovery," said Wahyudi.
In addition to relaxing fuel, BPH Migas also distributes diesel power plant (genset) assistance using Specified Fuel Type (JBT/subsidized fuel) and Special Fuel Type for Assignment (JBKP/compensation fuel). The assistance is provided for 15 days or until the distribution of electricity in the affected area is back to normal.
"We provide support during the transition period until the electricity condition recovers, so that community activities can resume," he said.
Wahyudi hopes that this series of policies will be able to accelerate the recovery of community energy access after disasters and extreme weather, so that social and economic activities can immediately return to normal.
"Hopefully after the relaxation period ends, the community will recover and get adequate access to energy, both fuel, LPG, and electricity, without interruption," he concluded.
