JAKARTA - PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur (Pupuk Kaltim) closed 2025 with a production realization of 6,679,415 tons, or an average of 107.3 percent of the annual target.
Director of Operations of Kaltim Fertilizer F. Purwanto conveyed that the achievement showed the reliability of the company's operations in maintaining the availability of national fertilizer as part of support for agricultural productivity and the government's food security agenda.
Throughout 2025, Kaltim Fertilizer produced 3,578,366 tons of urea fertilizer and 328,154 tons of NPK fertilizer, while for petrochemical products, ammonia production was recorded at 2,772,895 tons.
Purwanto said that the production achievement throughout 2025 was the result of the synergy of various parties, including government policy support, strategic direction of PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) as a holding company, and consistent company operational management.
"We appreciate the support of the government and the strategic direction of Pupuk Indonesia which provides a strong foundation for Pupuk Kaltim in maintaining operational sustainability throughout 2025," he said in a statement, quoted Wednesday, January 7.
Purwanto said that through the collaboration of all company personnel, his party could ensure that the national fertilizer supply was maintained to support agricultural sector productivity.
He added that this positive performance was supported by the operational stability of 13 Pupuk Kaltim production facilities which are the main foundation in maintaining the sustainability of national fertilizer supply.
According to him, the reliability of all these production facilities allows the company to maintain optimal production continuity to meet national fertilizer needs.
In line with operational strengthening efforts, Purwanto said that Kaltim Fertilizer was also implementing a strategic project to renovate the PKT-2 Ammonia Plant to increase energy efficiency, reduce gas consumption, and reduce carbon emissions as part of the company's commitment to developing a more environmentally friendly fertilizer industry.
Meanwhile, the revamping project which is targeted to be completed in the first semester of 2026 will be able to reduce emissions by up to 110,000 tons of CO2 per year.
In addition, he added that Kaltim Fertilizer will also continue to strengthen the implementation of Operational Excellence, as well as the optimization of technological innovation (Smart Production) to increase effectiveness and efficiency across all business lines, while maintaining product quality and excellence.
According to him, with this step, Pupuk Kaltim is optimistic that it can maintain reliable and sustainable operational performance in supporting national fertilizer needs in 2026.
"In the future, Kaltim Fertilizer will continue to explore various innovations to increase production capacity, operational efficiency, and human competence of the company, as part of a real contribution in supporting the agricultural sector and national food self-sufficiency," he concluded.
