JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) or HK said that there was a diversion of the existing road from the Sp Palas-Bts Kota Pekanbaru KM 17+500 section to a temporary road (detour) starting from January 8 to September 18, 2026.

Later, the detour route used is on the existing road side and will be equipped with signs, markings, lighting and other safety devices.

This was done because of the continuation of the STA 203+279 Overpass Bridge work on the Pekanbaru Ring Road project which connects the Pekanbaru area to Minas.

Executive Vice President (EVP) Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya Mardiansyah said that the traffic arrangement was a mitigation step to ensure the safety of road users during the work and support the smooth implementation of construction in the field.

"We apologize for the inconvenience caused. We appeal to road users to reduce their speed when passing around the work site, maintain a safe distance and comply with signs and instructions from officers in the field so that travel remains safe and smooth," said Mardiansyah quoted from a written statement, Wednesday, January 7.

Mardiansyah said that his party would coordinate with the Riau Land Transportation Management Agency (BPTD) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), the Riau Regional Police Traffic Police until the Riau National Road Implementation Office (BPJN) of the Directorate General of Road Construction of the Ministry of Public Works (PU), so that traffic remains safe and under control during the work process.

In addition, the company also alerted traffic control officers at crucial points and carried out socialization through various communication channels to ensure that information on lane changes is conveyed to the public.

To note, HK is building the Pekanbaru Ring Road Toll Road along approximately 30.5 kilometers (km) on the Pekanbaru-Rengat corridor.

When it is completed, the toll will be directly connected to the Pekanbaru-Bangkinang Toll Road and the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road.

The road plays an important role in breaking down traffic jams in the urban area of Pekanbaru as well as facilitating logistics flows to industrial areas in Riau Province.

After being fully operational, the Pekanbaru Ring Road Toll is expected to reduce the travel time from the Panam area to Kubang Raya or Bangkinang from around 60 minutes to only 20-25 minutes, thus supporting the efficiency of goods movement and community mobility.
