JAKARTA - Perum Bulog President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani said the distribution of domestic market obligation (DMO) cooking oil will be carried out by January 2026.
Rizal said this absorption was in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Trade (Permendag) Number 43 of 2025 concerning Palm Cooking Oil Packaging and People's Cooking Oil Management.
"According to the Permendag, we were ordered to start from January, January 2026, until December 2026," said Rizal, quoted by Antara, Monday, December 29.
DMO itself is an obligation of a producer or exporter of a commodity to sell a portion of its production in the domestic market before exporting the rest so that the availability and stability of prices in the country can be maintained.
"What we underline is that Bulog's plan will also be able to distribute cooking oil from DMO exports, namely a total of around 35 percent of the total national DMO. This is divided by Bulog itself, ID FOOD, and the third is Agrinas Palma (Nusantara)," said Rizal.
However, he admitted that there were still no further details regarding this matter. Rizal said that Bulog has now also prepared storage and distribution locations for DMO cooking oil.
"The distribution will later be adjusted to the new Permendag. The new Permendag, so Bulog, ID FOOD, and Agrinas Palma immediately receive DMO, then from the DMO it is directly distributed directly to retailers, to markets. So it's not just distribution one, distribution two, and so on," explained Rizal.
This, he continued, so that the price of oil remains low, in accordance with the Highest Retail Price (HET), and the distribution channel is not complicated, so that the public can get a reasonable price.
"So this is the government's goal to cut the distribution chains. If there are more chains, it will be more expensive in the field. So the hope is that the DMO that is given to Bulog, to ID FOOD, and to Agrinas Palma will go directly to the market at a cheaper price," said Rizal.
