The Ministry of PU Says 13 National Roads in Aceh Cannot Be Passed, Here is the List

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo revealed that there were still a number of isolated areas in Aceh Province after the late November 2025 flood. It is recorded that at least 13 national roads are still cut off which are spread across 7 districts.

Dody said that Central Aceh Regency and Bener Meriah Regency were two areas that had previously been isolated. Although access has been partially opened, its operations are still very limited.

"Yesterday, it was not possible to enter Central Aceh and Bener Meriah. But, yesterday afternoon it was able to penetrate, thank God, although it was still limited to 2-wheel and 4-wheel vehicles that were 4x4. So, the logistics are not 100 percent yet," said Dody in a media briefing on the Preparedness of the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 Holiday Infrastructure in the PU Ministry Auditorium, Jakarta, Thursday, December 18.

Based on data from the Ministry of PU as of December 17, 2025, there are 38 national roads and 16 bridges that are affected by flood and landslide disasters in Aceh. Of these, 25 roads can be functionally passed.

Meanwhile, there are still 13 national roads in a state of being cut off, some of which are the Bireuen City Road - Bts. Bireuen / North Aceh Length SK 26.11 Km (Kab. Bireuen) and Genting Gerbang - Celala - Bts. Central Aceh / Nagan Raya Length SK 25.92 Km (Kab Aceh Tengah).

"There are several alternative road sections that we are pursuing can be immediately opened to Central Aceh and Bener Meriah. At least I think there are four sections, one of which was opened yesterday. But even though it's not the maximum, because there are some signs that have not been installed," he said.

According to him, there are no longer any inter-district roads that are cut off. However, there are still a number of road and bridge works that are still unfinished between sub-districts.

This condition makes logistics trucks unable to enter these areas. Due to this condition, temporary assistance is still provided through air routes using helicopters, in coordination with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

"So, the last one yesterday that we were able to break through was Central Aceh and Bener Meriah, although it is still limited. Our hope, anyway, in the next few days, after the aramco and (bridge) bailey are installed there, the logistics trucks can enter," he added.
