JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) or HK officially completed the main structure phase or topping off (roof closure) of the R.D. Kandou Manado Hospital Integrated Cancer Service Building construction project.

Director of Operations II of Hutama Karya Gunadi said that this activity marked an important achievement for the company in supporting the acceleration of the development of national health infrastructure, especially the provision of modern integrated cancer service facilities in the eastern Indonesian region.

The project, which started on December 6, 2024, will be carried out for 540 calendar days and is targeted to be completed by mid-2026.

"This topping off not only marks the completion of the highest physical structure of the building, but also symbolizes the realization of a joint commitment to provide modern and high-standard health facilities for the people of East Indonesia," said Gunadi in a written statement, Monday, December 15.

It is known that the company built a 13-storey Integrated Cancer Service Building with a total building area of 20,431.96 square meters.

The building will accommodate 146 beds which include various services, such as special class inpatient care, VIP, VVIP, isolation, pediatric ICU (PICU), pediatric and adult chemotherapy, and integrated oncology polyclinic.

"The topping off achievement was implemented faster than schedule, showing optimal construction performance and strong synergy between hospital management, government, project team, vendors and subcontractors in the field," he said.

After the topping off, Hutama Karya will focus on architectural and Mechanical, Electrical, Electronical, Plumbing (MEEP) work with an estimated completion of up to six months, with testing and commissioning of the facility scheduled for May 2026.

Kandou Hospital, along with the readiness of human resources and the strengthening of efforts to detect and treat cancer for the people of Manado and its surroundings, North Eastern Indonesia and the surrounding area," he said.

Meanwhile, North Sulawesi Governor Yulius Selvanus assessed that the presence of this facility will change the face of health services in the eastern part of Indonesia.

According to him, the presence of an integrated cancer service facility at the R.D. Kandou Hospital, will prepare North Sulawesi to become a referral center for health in East Indonesia.

"So, the community no longer needs to seek cancer services outside the region and Manado is ready to play a role as host of regional health services," he explained.
