139,485 Units of Damaged Houses in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra after the Recent Flood

JAKARTA - Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning (PKP) Maruarar Sirait (Ara) reported that a total of 139,485 houses in Aceh, North Sumatra (Sumut) and West Sumatra (Sumbar) were damaged by the Sumatra flash flood at the end of November 2025.

"So, a total of 139,485 houses were damaged, moderate, heavy and washed away, data as of Sunday, December 14, 2025, at 5 p.m.," Ara said in a Cabinet Meeting, quoted from the live broadcast of the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Tuesday, December 16.

Ara detailed that in Aceh, 38,553 houses were slightly damaged, 22,204 were moderately damaged, 35,517 were severely damaged, and 4,295 houses were washed away.

So the total number of houses affected by flooding in Aceh is 100,569 units.

Then in North Sumatra, 19,936 houses were slightly damaged, 4,304 were moderately damaged, 4,391 were severely damaged, and 1,135 houses were washed away.

The total number of houses affected by flooding in North Sumatra is 29,766 units.

Furthermore in West Sumatra, 5,634 houses were damaged lightly, 1,174 were damaged moderately, 1,577 were severely damaged and 765 houses were washed away. Thus, the total number of houses damaged by the flood in Sumatra is 9,150 units.

Ara also revealed that there were 51 locations in the three provinces that were prepared for the relocation of affected residents.

The houses for the affected residents are proposed to be built using the Healthy Simple Instant House (Risha).

The type of house uses precast concrete, so it is suitable for fast construction needs.

Risha has also been developed and used for a long time by the Research and Development Center (Puslitbang) Permukiman, Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR).

"We are also coordinating with Semen Indonesia, a good step to empower our own capabilities," he said.
