JAKARTA - President Director of PT PLN (Persero) Darmawan Prasodjo admitted that there was still a shortage of 40 Mega Watt (MW) so there was still a turnover of electricity in Banda Aceh.
"Banda Aceh is still experiencing a rotating blackout. Where there is still a supply shortage of 40 Mega Watts," Darmawan said online to the media crew, Tuesday, December 9.
So far, Darmawan continued, electricity for Banda Aceh has been supplied from a power plant owned by PLN in Arun. However, there was massive damage to the Aceh electricity system due to flash floods that occurred at the end of last November. One of the damage that occurred was the transmission between Bireun and Arun, there were 6 transmission towers that were swept away by the flood. As a result, PLN's generator in Arun was unable to drain electricity to Banda Aceh so that a rotating blackout was carried out.
Darmawan PLN said that he was trying to restore the transmission connection that connects Aceh with the Sumatran electricity backbone.
"Earlier, the direction from the Minister, we were all ready to carry out, restore transmission from Sumatra backbone to Langsa (Aceh)," continued Darmawan.
He added that the termination of the transmission caused the Aceh electricity system to be isolated from the Sumatran electricity backbone.
