Aims For Oil And Gas Lifting 6100.000 In 2026, The Government Does This

JAKARTA - The government has set a target of lifting oil and gas (oil and gas) in the 2026 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) of 610.000 barrels. This figure is up from the 2025 State Budget target of 60.000 barrels per day. Lifting is also targeted to increase gradually in the coming years to 1 million barrels per day in 2030.

Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Yuliot said, to achieve the production target, consolidation and collaboration between the Government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Implementation (SKK Migas), and Cooperation Contractors (KKKS).

"In order to increase production in the working area, ladies and gentlemen, it needs to be consolidated. Yes, about this year, how much do we explore. Then there are wells that we can maximize. In that case, there are obstacles, of course, this must be consolidated with SKK Migas," said Yuliot at the SKK Migas Business Support Coordination Meeting in Bogor Regency, Wednesday, December 3.

Yuliot asked for this coordination meeting to identify various problems that could arise, along with the target of completion, in pursuing the lifting target in 2026. Among them are related to the improvement of regulations, provision of infrastructure, Domestic Component Level (TKDN), and ecosystem availability of equipment. He hopes that the results of this coordination meeting can provide input to the Government regarding policy steps that must be taken to facilitate the achievement of the lifting target.

To facilitate the achievement of the lifting target, the Government has identified 45,000 community wells spread across South Sumatra, Aceh, Jambi, North Sumatra, Central Java, and East Java. These wells are also expected to contribute to the increase in oil and gas lifting.

The increase in oil and gas production is also expected to come from the potential of 128 oil and gas basins. Of that number, 20 basins have been worked on, leaving 108 basins with great potential. To complete oil and gas potential data, the Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will accelerate the availability of data, both 2-dimensional, 3-dimensional survey data, and exploration data, which can be complete exploration data.

"Hopefully, ladies and gentlemen, when the working area is offered to business entities, both in the context of a consortium or in the context of a joint venture, it is welcome. So we hope that later on for all domestic oil and gas potentials we can optimize it in the context of resilience and energy adequacy in the country," concluded Yuliot.

At the end of his speech, Yuliot emphasized that energy resilience and self-sufficiency are national priorities that can only be achieved through strengthening the upstream oil and gas sector, including through optimization of production, enforcement of governance, empowerment of SOEs/D as well as integration of central policies and implementation in the field.
