Pupuk Indonesia Anticipates Flood Impact At PT PIM Factory

JAKARTA - The factory area of PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda (PIM) in Aceh was affected by the floods that hit the area. PT fertilizer Indonesia (Persero) also anticipates its impact by activating a strategy to transfer subsidized fertilizer stocks and rapid supply.

"We express our deep condolences for the floods that hit the brothers in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra," said PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) President Director Rahmad Pribadi quoting Ntara.

In response to the flood that also hit the PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda factory, he said, Pupuk Indonesia had taken steps to secure factory operations, including temporarily turning off the Pupuk Iskandar Muda factory in Lhokseumawe for the safety of 1,088 employees and their families who were evacuated, as well as 47 hospital patients who were evacuated.

"To all farmers in Indonesia, don't worry, we make sure the national fertilizer stock is in a safe position. Currently, the total stock of subsidized fertilizers nationally reaches 1.1 million tons, which is sufficient for the needs for the next 23 days," he said.

Meanwhile, to overcome the impact of the quenching of the Iskandar Muda Fertilizer operation, Pupuk Indonesia has activated a stock transfer and rapid supply strategy.

According to him, the need for fertilizer for Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra will be met from other factories in the holding, namely PT Pusri Palembang, PT Petrokimia Gresik, and PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur.

Meanwhile, PT Pupuk Kujang is focused on supporting the needs of West Java, Banten, and parts of Central Java.

West Java is a national food barn, and given the BMKG's warnings regarding extreme weather lines which are expected to last until February 2026, we have anticipated that by making shipments beyond normal limits. During November, Pupuk Kujang has delivered more than 70 thousand tons of fertilizer, a significant increase from the monthly average," said Rahmad.

It is said that Pupuk Indonesia Group has also sent logistical assistance and medical devices to support the internal recovery process and the surrounding community. The impact of Pupuk Iskandar Muda's production is expected to recover within about 10 days after the electricity supply returns to normal.
