The Governments Of The Republic Of Indonesia And China Agree On An Investment Of IDR 36.4 Trillion

JAKARTA - Indonesia and China have again strengthened economic relations through the signing of 16 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) investment cooperation with a total value of IDR 36.4 trillion.

The signing was carried out by Indonesian and Chinese business actors, and was witnessed by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.

Meanwhile, as many as 16 cooperation projects will begin to be implemented in 2026 and include a number of national priority sectors, namely steel exports, nickel, and industrial commodities, food and marine processing, integrated fisheries industry, solar energy development and energy storage systems.

Furthermore, coal and supply chains of industrial raw materials, research and collaboration of Indonesian artificial intelligence "Chingkok, new technology and industrial equipment, as well as the development of industrial estates and new energy supply chains.

Airlangga said the investment value of IDR 36.4 trillion represented 24.3 percent of the total investment commitment of 10 billion US dollars.

"We need more projects in the steel, manufacturing, fisheries, textiles, agriculture, such as tea, furniture, new technologies such as drones, EP batteries, including infrastructure and AI itself," he said in his statement, quoted Friday, November 28.

Airlangga said that these sectors are very prospective for Indonesia, and the Indonesian government hopes that the signing of the memorandum of understanding can further strengthen collaboration between China and Indonesia.

For information, China is also listed as Indonesia's main trading partner, with a bilateral trade value of around 135 billion US dollars in 2024.

This confirms China's position as a strategic economic partner for Indonesia in encouraging growth and expanding opportunities for cooperation in the future.
