JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation has begun to intensify safety supervision ahead of the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 (Nataru) holidays. Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi emphasized that this step was a direct order from President Prabowo Subianto. He said the entire ramp check process was directed to ensure the readiness of the fleet as well as the discipline of drivers and operators.
"According to President Prabowo Subianto's direction, the Ministry of Transportation carries out a ramp check to ensure that all modes of transportation are safe, comfortable, and ready to serve the community with the best quality. People's safety is a top priority and we are committed to providing transportation services that are transparent, orderly, and humane," said Dudy, in an official statement, in Jakarta, Sunday, November 23.
Dudy said the ramp check was carried out by checking things that were deemed to cause accidents, such as the physical condition of the vehicle, the functions of vehicle operational support equipment, administrative documents and vehicle equipment, as well as other equipment related to driving safety and comfort.
In the land transportation sector, the ramp check has been started since November 7, 2025, and will be carried out until January 2, 2026. The coverage includes bus pools, strategic tourist routes, and terminals spread across West Java, Central Java, Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, and South Sumatra.

Currently, the Directorate General of Sea Transportation has formed a Petik Test Team that ramps checks at a number of passenger dense ports including Tanjung Perak, Makassar, Batam, Ambon, Banten, Bitung, Dumai, Sorong, Kendari, Kotabaru-Batulicin, Ternate, Kupang, Tanjung Wangi, Merauke, and Muara Angke ports.

Meanwhile, in the railway sector, ramp checks are carried out on facilities and infrastructure, including inspection of Minimum Service Standards (SPM) and inspections of safety across operations.
In addition to ramp checks, other policies and strategies have also been prepared to maintain and improve the fulfillment of transportation safety and security aspects, among others, through coordination with relevant stakeholders such as the Indonesian National Police and operators, preparation of human resources, anticipation of weather, regulation on safety, and the implementation of the 2025/2026 Nataru Transportation Integrated Command Post involving more than 12,000 personnel from the ministry/institutional elements as well as stakeholders.
