The Ministry of Cooperatives (Kemenkop) will make the membership of the Red and White Village Cooperative (KopDes Merah Putih) a condition for receiving social assistance (bansos) for the Family Hope Program (PKH). Previously, the government had also imposed BPJS membership requirements as a condition for making a driving license (SIM).

Deputy for Institution and Digitization of the Kemenkop Cooperative, Hendra Saragih explained, this policy aims to make program recipients a person who really needs it.

"PKH yes, those at the Ministry of Social Affairs recipients will be distributed through cooperatives. Now, we are discussing how so that it can be ascertained that the recipients are really recipients," said Henra to the media crew at the Kemenkop Building, Friday, November 21.

He explained that the PKH beneficiaries data would be taken from data from the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos). After being registered, the public will receive assistance of Rp. 200,000 per month in the form of basic necessities.

"It is confirmed that Rp. 200,000 is in the form of rice goods, cooking oil sugar. It will be prepared by the cooperative, so that when the Government distributes PKH, these people get coupons, the coupons must be purchased for goods at their cooperatives," he continued.

Henri said, there will be many other opportunities that will be obtained if he joins the Codes / Kel Merah Putih. Nevertheless, he ensures that the cooperative's membership remains based on the principle of voluntary action.

"One principle, that cooperatives are voluntary, but in government policies it will be the same as for example, BPJS Kesehatan," he said.

Based on the records of the Ministry of Cooperatives, currently there are 1.29 million people who have registered as members of the Red and White KopDes. Meanwhile, as many as 82,780 Kopdes have become legal entities and if it is generalized, each cooperative only has 14 people as members. This number is relatively small when compared to the number of cooperatives that have been established throughout Indonesia.
