Purbaya: The Presence Of Deputy Minister Of Finance Thomas At RDG Is Positive For Fiscal-Moneter Synergy

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadiveh spoke about the presence of Deputy Minister of Finance Thomas Djiwandono representing himself at the Board of Governors (RDG) Meeting of Bank Indonesia on November 18, 2025.

Purbaya emphasized that the involvement of representatives of the Ministry of Finance in the BI RDG is important to strengthen the synergy between fiscal and monetary policies.

"The presence of representatives of the Minister of Finance at the BI RDG is good for deeper monetary fiscal synergy. In the law, it is permissible. We thank the central bank for giving us an invitation," he said at a press conference on the KITA State Budget, Thursday, November 20.

He explained that according to BI Law (UU) Number 43 Paragraph 1A, a minister can attend the RDG with the right to speak, but without voting rights.

"So we can talk there, bribe this, but once the flower voting, we don't come. The one who went there yesterday Mr. Thomas, now he is gone so I can't answer in more detail what was discussed there," he said.

Purbaya considered that the presence of government representatives in RDG was positive.

In addition, he emphasized that the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) meeting was not a forum to set interest rates, so the delivery of representatives to meetings discussing interest rate policies allowed the government's view to be considered by the central bank.

"I think this is a positive policy. The KSSK (Financial System Stability Committee) meeting is not a policy to determine interest. For this, we send people there at the interest determination policy meeting. At the very least, the central bank can pay attention to the government as well," he said.

He added that the government's involvement in RDG fully follows the applicable legal provisions and allows better coordination between fiscal and monetary.
