Director General Of Taxes Explains Strategy To Optimize State Revenue Amid Economic Slowdown

JAKARTA - Director General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance, Bimo Wijayanto, revealed several optimization strategies in increasing state revenues amid a slowdown in the global economy.

Bimo said that the government continues to strive to increase tax revenue while maintaining the economic growth of the private sector and people's purchasing power.

"Of course in this effort, we have also conveyed by our leadership, the Minister, we will not issue a policy that is a new tax material," he said in Andi Shalini's dialogue with the Director General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, Bimo Wijayanto in the Swawk Box, Tuesday, November 18.

He added that the main focus now is to increase tax administration capacity, including strengthening electronic services so that taxpayers are easier in carrying out their obligations.

In addition, Bimo added, the government has also opened budget blocking to accelerate the realization of state spending and encourage national priority programs that can be a stimulus for the economy.

"Earlier it was also conveyed, the policy of placing Rp200 trillion plus a top-up of Rp76 trillion to commercial banks that have been channeled to productive credit, to the real sector, the impact has begun to be seen on consumption, on investment, on growth economies, and also on the development of tax revenues as the main source for state revenues in the state budget," he explained.

In addition, Bimo explained, tax incentives in the future will be made more focused and measurable so that they can improve the performance of strategic sectors that play a role in strengthening people's purchasing power and growth in the private economy.

Bimo menyebut sektor domestik yang menjadi fokus saat ini yaitu beberapa sektor yang menunjukkan pertumbuhan positif, antara lain jasa keuangan dan asuransi, perdagangan digital, serta sektor informasi dan komunikasi yang mendukung ekosistem digital.

"Ini terus tumbuh positif dan menjadi salah satu stabilisator penerimaan negara. Tentu kita akan memberikan insentif untuk mendorong sektor-sektor yang bisa bertumbuh tersebut," tuturnya.

Sementara itu, ia menyampaikan untuk sektor andalan seperti komoditas minerba dan komoditas CPU, tentunya pentingnya perbaikan tata kelola dan langkah ini dilakukan untuk mencegah berbagai potensi penyimpangan.

Bimo said that the current focus of the domestic sector is several sectors that show positive growth, including financial services and insurance, digital trade, as well as the information and communication sector that supports the digital ecosystem.

"This continues to grow positively and becomes one of the stabilizers of state revenues. Of course we will provide incentives to encourage these growing sectors," he said.

Meanwhile, he conveyed that for mainstay sectors such as mineral and coal commodities and CPU commodities, of course, the importance of improving governance and this step was taken to prevent various potential irregularities.
