JAKARTA - The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) affirms its commitment to limiting the sale of illegal used imported or thrifting clothes while ensuring the sustainability of the businesses of domestic traders.
For this reason, the Ministry of MSMEs plans to convert Pasar Senen, Central Jakarta into a local product sales center from previously selling used clothes,
Deputy for Small Business at the Ministry of MSMEs, Temmy Satya Permana, said that the used clothing trader at Pasar Senen had expressed his readiness to switch to domestic products.
This step is also supported by local governments as a form of sustainable business transformation.
"With this scheme, it is hoped that they will continue to try," Temmy told the media crew, Friday, November 7.
Temmy admitted that in the near future he will meet the Pasar Senen Traders Association.
In fact, previously the government had communicated with traders' associations that there were more than 150 trademarks that were ready to support Pasar Senen's revitalization activities.
"What is certain is that we will look for the best, best effort that we can do to be able to connect," he said.
Temmy said, Pasar Senen's rebranding will still focus on local clothing products considering that so far Pasar Senen is famous for selling used clothes.
"We know that so far Pasar Senen is the center of fashion, yes, clothes, so at least far from there, only we will rebrand for sure, rebranding that Senen is one of the centers of our local brands," said Temmy.
