JAKARTA - The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) summoned a number of e-commerce platforms related to controlling the sale of illegal imported clothing.
Present at the meeting were IDEA Chairman Hilmi Adrianto, Shopee Indonesia Shopee Deputy of Public Affairs, Radynal Nataprawira, Vice President Government Affairs Lazada Indonesia, Yovan Sudarma and Lead of Public Policy Tokopedia, Richard Anggoro.
Deputy for Small Business at the Ministry of MSMEs, Temmy Satya Permana, said that this summons was intended so that the Ministry of MSMEs and e-commerce could synergize and collaborate in controlling illegal imported clothing that is commonly found in the community and harm the Indonesian economy.
"In this case, we ask that platforms can control sellers who are still selling items that are not allowed," said Temmy, Friday, November 7.
Temmy explained that e-commerce platforms are required to follow the Regulation of the Minister of Trade Number 31 of 2023 concerning Business Licensing, Advertising, Development, and Supervision of Business Actors in Trade Through Electronic Systems, including ensuring that products that violate the provisions of the law should not be traded.
Meanwhile, idEA General Chair Hilmi Adrianto emphasized that his party is committed to complying with Permendag 31/2023 and will bring order to traders who still sell clothes from illegal imports.
According to him, since March 2023 all idEA members have also made a series of breakthroughs to be able to help the Ministry of MSMEs to be able to reduce products that are prohibited, including imported clothing.
"And with today's coordination, the agreement we will reach is how we can tighten it even more, how can we be able to make an ecosystem that is much more comfortable so that we can entrust the clothes that are prohibited from being sold by e-commerce," he explained.
On the other hand, Shopee Indonesia's Deputy of Public Affairs, Radynal Nataprawira, confirmed that his party had lowered hundreds of thousands of Stock Keeping Units (SKU).
This was done after his party coordinated with the Ministry of MSMEs.
"So there is some related news in social media, there is an account that is a Shopee seller whose goods were sent down regarding imported goods, now it illustrates how our constitution is one of tens of thousands of shops that we have arranged," he said.
