Minister Of Transportation Dudy: Safety Is The Main Priority Of Air Transportation During Nataru

Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi emphasized that flight safety and security are the government's top priorities in facing the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year (Nataru) transportation periods.

This was conveyed by Dudy in a meeting to discuss air transportation policies and strategies with Garuda Indonesia airline, at Garuda Sentra Operasi, Tangerang, Wednesday, October 29.

Dudy said policies and strategies are the key to maintaining the smooth flow of passengers, ensuring flight safety, and ensuring that people can enjoy safe and comfortable transportation services.

"Momentum Nataru has always been a challenge and an opportunity to show the readiness of air transportation. Therefore, we have prepared policies and strategies so that all aspects can run optimally and side with the community," said Dudy in an official statement, Wednesday, October 29.

According to Dudy, a number of steps have been prepared to maintain smooth and flight security, including increasing the fulfillment of safety and security aspects, as well as anticipating emergency conditions through operational standard readiness (SOP), facilities, and supporting infrastructure.

Other policies discussed are human resources, inter-ministerial and institutional equipment, weather anticipation, safety regulations, and increased passenger services through supervision by all technical directorates to airlines.

"As well as technical services for handling aircraft on land (ground handling) both before, during, and after flights," he said.

Dudy said that an increase in air transportation capacity will also be carried out through increasing the number and capacity of flights, either by increasing the flight schedule or replacing aircraft with a larger type.

"Then, communicate effectively and massively to users of air transportation services, as well as maintain the growth of public demand by ensuring the imposition of air transportation rates according to regulations," he said.

To ensure that all people can enjoy air transportation services, continued Dudy, the government has lowered domestic economic class ticket rates for the flight period from 22 December 2025 to 10 January 2026, with a purchase period of 22 October 2025 to 10 January 2026.

"We take this step so that connectivity between regions is maintained and community mobility runs smoothly at a more affordable rate," said Dudy.

Dudy berharap, kebijakan dan strategi yang telah disusun untuk menghadapi masa Natal 2025 dan tahun baru 2026 dapat diterapkan secara konsisten oleh Garuda Indonesia dan maskapai penerbangan lainnya.

“Hal tersebut karena sinergi antara pemerintah, maskapai, serta pengelola bandara menjadi faktor penentu pelayanan transportasi udara pada masa Nataru dapat berjalan optimal dan memberikan manfaat sebesar-besarnya bagi masyarakat,” tuturnya.

Dudy hopes that the policies and strategies that have been prepared to deal with the Christmas 2025 period and the 2026 new year can be consistently implemented by Garuda Indonesia and other airlines.

"This is because the synergy between the government, airlines, and airport managers is the determining factor for air transportation services during the Nataru period to run optimally and provide the maximum benefit to the community," he said.
