BNI Provides Credit Facilities For The Development And Operations Of PT Geo Dipa Energi's Geothermal Project

JAKARTA - PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI strengthens its commitment to developing new and renewable energy (EBT) in Indonesia through the provision of credit facilities and trade facilities for PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero) with a capacity of 500 MW.

This support is focused on financing the construction of the Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) project and supporting the company's operational activities.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo emphasized that this support is a form of BNI's commitment to accelerating the clean energy transition and realizing a green economy in Indonesia.

"This financing is a tangible manifestation of BNI's support for the development of the national green energy project, as well as efforts to accelerate the clean energy transition in Indonesia," Okki said in a written statement, Thursday, October 16.

Furthermore, Okki explained that this synergy is a strategic step in strengthening national energy security based on environmentally friendly resources. This collaboration also emphasizes BNI's position as a pioneer of national banking which actively encourages the implementation of sustainable finance.

"Synergy with Geo Dipa strengthens BNI's position as the main actor in green financing and supports the national agenda towards a sustainable energy future," he added.

As one of the State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) engaged in geothermal energy, PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero) manages the Dieng PLTP and Patuha PLTP projects, two national strategic projects that are an important part of the development of geothermal energy in Indonesia. Currently, the installed capacity reaches 120 MW, with an expansion plan of up to 500 MW.

Geothermal energy has a major advantage because it is environmentally friendly and free from high carbon emissions.

Based on data from the International Energy Agency (IEA), geothermal plants produce only 45 80 grams of CO2 per kWh, much lower than coal power plants which reach 9001,000 grams of CO2 per kWh.

In addition, PLTP can operate for a full 24 hours throughout the year, making it a reliable and efficient baseload energy source.

Resources of geothermal energy are also spread across various parts of Indonesia, so it has great potential to reduce dependence on energy imports while strengthening national energy independence.
